Spoils of War: Privateering in Nova Scotia

British Navy extends blockade to New England

By late 1814 Nova Scotians were shifting from privateering to increased activity in fishing and trade. This was because Britain had now extended its naval blockade to New England, thereby reducing the number of American vessels available for capture.
