Spoils of War: Privateering in Nova Scotia

Once Castine (in today’s Maine) had been seized by the British it became the principal base for smuggling between Nova Scotia and New England. The port’s Customs House revenue later provided an endowment fund for Halifax’s Dalhousie University.
