Spoils of War: Privateering in Nova Scotia

Advertisement for publication of Court of Vice Admiralty decisions

Halifax’s Court of Vice Admiralty was presided over by the irascible Sir Alexander Croke. A man of wealth and power, Sir Alexander had his portrait painted by the artist Robert Field, who added to his income by running a shop.
