The Prat Sisters: Free Spirits of the 1890s

In this haunting photo, Minnie wears a brooch containing a miniature portrait of her late fiancé, Goodridge Bliss Roberts. A divinity student at King's College, Windsor, Goodridge had died of influenza at Minnie's family home in Wolfville on February 4, 1892, at the age of 22. Minnie had this photo taken while she was visiting Goodridge's parents in Fredericton.
