The Prat Sisters: Free Spirits of the 1890s

Samuel Prat (ca. 1829-1892)

Samuel Prat was born in Glastonbury, England, ca. 1829, and came to Nova Scotia in 1846. He married Elizabeth Duport Morse of Paradise, N.S. They had five children who lived to adulthood: Annie, Rupert, Charlotte, Minnie, and May. Samuel became the first station master at Wolfville for the Windsor and Annapolis Railway Company. In 1870, he was promoted to general superintendent of several stations. He died of influenza at 'Acadia Villa,' the Prat family home at Wolfville, in February 1892.
