James of Bridgetown to Joseph Howe regarding the report of Dr. Johnston on small pox among the Mi'kmaq of Bay Shore enclosing a resolution of a Special Session of the Magistrates held at Bridgetown in 1849, ordering Drs. Johnston and Cochran to attend the Mi'kmaq and prevent the spreading of small pox, and also orders Joseph Whitlock, who declined to act as Health Warden, to attend the said doctors and see that the aforementioned regulations are carried out.
