Mr. Hierlehy (sp)'s Letter on the Antigonish Indians

(abbreviation for second half of fiscal year?)] Incloses a List of the Heads of Families; -- cannot ascer-tain the exact numbers of women & children, but computes four or five children to a Family: - Does not think they [would?] be easily persuaded to join either the English or French army, but would attach themselves to whatever party should prove victorious; - should a French party have such a [product?] they would probably join it. - Knows no person fit for an [emissary?] ; -- any but an Indian would be [suspected?] among them;- such suspicion to be guarded against; -- the interest of their Priests, the most effectual [security?].

Mr. Denovan's second Letter -
Incloses a return of the Indians [from?] Cape St. George to Tatamagouth. -- " Having occasion to talk with several of them with respect to their opinions of [War?], they will join, in their own [words?], the strongest side; -- one affirmed he would scalp [all?] [Pictou?] in two nights; -- in fact they are not to be depended upon." ___

Reckons two or three Families at [illegible]; -- eight or ten in the vicinity of Bay Verte; -- and about twenty more at the [River?] Philip & Remsheg -- they would wish to remain neutral, but in case of [necessity?] "would fight for their Brother King George"; -- have no Chief in this Quarter, and are very insignificant. ___
