Londonderry March 20th_ 1801
Gentlemen
In compliance with Your Instructions of the 23d of January. I have Carefully taken an Account of all the Indians in this district at present; Except what may be at Tatamagush which I suppose [?Mr] Waugh Will return. I shall observe to comunicate the account as Directed but has not as Yet received - any from Cumberland Tatamagush or Pictue [Pictou]. I have heard nothing of any Indians in this Quarter suffering for want of substance during the Winter and therefore did not think it necessary to give them anything on government account. It is my opinion that if a Provential Bounty was given them for Killing Bears, it is the [business] the would most Incline to follow, and would be beneficial to the Inhabitants, Especially New Settlements.
