Mr Daniel Krolland
Chester Basin

Chester January 29th.. 1843.
Honorable and Dear Sir
I would have replied to your favour of the 27th Nov sooner concerning our neighbours at Gold River but I thought it would be better to wait a while and see what effect the encouragement you promised them would have on their own industry as you take an interest in there welfare, I took it for granted you did not wish to cherish Indolance that is so natural to there Species, but to Stimulate them to industry and I have endeavoured to impress them with this fact, and I feel a pleasure in saying to you the promises you have made them has had a good effect, Old John and his Sons are buisily engaged processing lumber and shingles for the reconverting of the Barn into a dwelling
