reccommend to the House to appropriate a sum toward's defraying my expences to Halifax in order to submit the manuscripts to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs, and if it would be approved of the House here to contribute jointly with that of Nova Scotia for the purpose of publishing it; but would you believe, that in the 19th Century, a Legislature could be found so devoid of philanthropy and benevolence as to repulse so just and reasonable an effort to render the state of the fast fading aborigines more tollerable their final exit from among us more gradual! Our Cabal of Legislature or the rabble which are here deputed to fulfil the functions of Legislators, while they waste the time they should devote to purposess of public utility to wrangling debates about who has the best right to, or who should enjoy the Greatest share of the rightful inheritance of the unfortunate Indians, suffer the poor remains of this once powerful nation to glide away from of the face of the earth, without making the slightest effort to arrest their progress, As I took notes of the debates as soon as they are published, I shall forward you the papers containing them with the other documents, if I can procure them from the House of Assembly and then you may judge what sort of stuff our Patriotic Assembly is composed of Can anything be done in Your Country for the poor
