In March the following resolutions are communicated to
me by Committee, consisting of Andrew Sheils, Alex
Ferguson and J. McNab. They were passed by a respectable
meeting of Farmers, residing the neighborhood of Dartmouth.
Resolved, That this meeting whilst duly appreciating
the praiseworthy endeavours of the Government to
ameliorate the condition of the Indians of this Province,
have to regret the aspiration of the Commissionership
in drawing such additional numbers about the vicinity
of Dartmouth, the evils of which have, for a long time,
been, and at present more particularly are, most surely
felt by nearly every land owner of this district, in
the ravages the Indians are making upon the most
valuable of their wood, which in many instances has
been totally destroyed by them, consisting of young
groves of Oak, Maple, Ash, &c which have been preserved
