Affairs, I am induced to trouble you with a few lines, to ascertain whether you have any personal knowledge of the facts stated in the Petition, and whether you would feel disposed to act as my representative, in such Communications as it may be necessary to hold with the Micmacs in your County. In the meantime, in order to aid them in their clearing operations, please supply them with the spades and [hoes?] they may require, and, if you think time may be lost by waiting till you see or hear from me, with the 50 bushels of potatoes also, keeping the names of the individuals to whom they are given, and, if possible, [visiting?] their Settlement, that we may know exactly in what state it was when the Provincial Act came into operation.
