Halifax, Dec. 10, 1842
Sir,
Since I saw you at Chester, I have had a few conversations with the Indian Claimants to the property you hold at Indian Point and, with some difficulty, have got them to consent to take Thirty Pounds, in full of all demands. On your remitting me this amount, or lending me a note off hand, payable in six months, or a year, I will be prepared to send you an acknowledgement, in their names and a confirmation, as Indian Commissioner of your tittle. Hoping that this arrangement will be satisfactory I remain your obedient servant Joseph Howe
Mr Tobias Cook
