Halifax 23rd March 1842
Sir:
All the land granted to the Indians at Indian Point has been conveyed by them many years since and the Deed I understand is upon record in the County of Lunenburg. In November 1834 Geo P. Link applied to purchase a portion of the Indian Reserve stating that he was the purchaser from William [Booth?] for the sum £110 and his application being approved of a Grant of confirmation passed to him. I was not aware at that time of this lot being included in the Indian Grant, and when I discovered subsequently that a portion of it was included therein I directed W. Smith to make a survey and report of the exact state of it which I now enclose. The grant to Link can not of course take effect against the Indian Grant but I am afraid the long possession of the parties will be a [bar?] against their claims. I will be obliged by your returning me the plan and report when you
