Indian Point
April 28, 1842 Visitted Indian Point, accompanied by the Chief, Francis Paul and Peter Thomas, whose wives claim this property, in order to investigate the facts, and justify their and my own mind as to whether it could be recovered. Found Smith's Report generally accurate, particularly as regarded the land held by [Meisinger?]. The Indians rarely spoke of this half, but [seemed?] to dwell on that held by Toby [Cook?], from which it is probable that some alienation of it may have been very early sanctioned by the Indians.
[Boothe?], an old Scotchman, now living on the Chester Road, appears to have occupied the eastern lot, containing about 60 acres, as early as 1816. B. sold to a man named Zink, who, fearing the title was not good, took out a grant. He sold to Whitford, who never lived here himself, but had Chr. Greaves as a tenant 2 Years. Old [Meisinger?] then bought the property and Greaves remained his tenant for 5 Years. M's [San?] [Son?] now lives on the place, and has for 4 Years. There has therefore been an [uninterrupted?] possession of 26 years, which would [shut out?] the Indian title.
