Mi'kmaq Holdings Resource Guide

Unsigned memo regarding an agreement made on 7 July 1761 in which the Chief of the Misiguash [Missaguash?] tribe "submitted to and acknowledged George the Third as his only sovereign." Memo states that the author "cannot find any General surrender or resignation of title to territory regarded as theirs by the Indians." No date.

Chief of the tribe of Mesiguash
voluntarily submitted to and
acknowledged George the Third as
his only Sovereign.

Treaties of Peace have been
made and "Talks" had with
several Chiefs of tribes by the
Governor and Council- but I
cannot find any general
surrender or resignation of title
to territory regarded as theirs
by the Indians.
