The Prisoner having pleaded guilty
to the Indictment I am unable
to [report] the [facts] of this case.
From what I gathered at the time
it was a case of [?gross] perjury on
the [truth] of a civil suit of some
magnitude in which the Prisoner
was a [Witness]. He appeared to be
a very ignorant man and seemed too
very [sensible?] of his crime and
deeply affected by it. Mere circumstances
and his pleading guilty induced
me to sentence him for one year
only. I could [illegible] I might with
no [less] punishment a crime
which I fear is of too common
occurrence in this Province.
