Gaspard Le Marchant Lieutenant
Governor and Commander
in Chief in and over the Province
of Nova Scotia and its dependencies
&c &c &c

The Petition of the undersigned
Micmac Chief in the Counties of Kings
Queens Lunenburg and Shelburne

Humbly Sheweth
That within the Jurisdiction
of your Petition there are many
Indians who are almost destitute of
food and clothing. That out of
the sum appropriated by the Legislature
in the last Session to the relief of
his people [in Queens County - written above so insert here]
no part has been received
with the exception of a few blankets and
Coats of such a miserable quality as
to be of little or no use. That your
Petitioner is desirous that your Excellency
would cause such measures to be
adopted as will ensure to the Indians
within his jurisdiction the money
set apart by the Legislature for their
relief either by appropriating it in the
City to the purchase of such articles of
clothing and food as they most stand
in
