3rd. That to have procured "Moccason's"
would be a saving only of
a few Pounds. To obtain them
immediately was impossible.
The state of the Indians required
immediate attention, it was
therefore considered judicious to
purchase Shoes ready made at
a low price_

I cannot but regret that [any portion of - written above so insert here] Mr.Jennings's charges should
have been disallowed- & I should hope [illegible] glad if
it had been in my power to make him any further
remuneration beyond that which the Legislature
has been fit to grant
