We the Undersigned Justices of the Peace
[for] the County of Cape Breton Do hereby certify
that we have had frequent opportunities of
[becoming] acquainted with the general
behaviour and means of Subsistence of the
Indians [residing] in the [said] County and
We are well satisfied that the statements
made in the foregoing petition relative to
their [indigent] and distressed circumstances
are correct and we therefore beg to recommend
[them] to the favorable consideration of His
Excellence the Lieutenant Governor for
obtaining such relief as His Excellency
may [see] proper to extend to them.
