The Petition of Joseph Paul in behalf of his aged father
Peter Paul, Indians, residing at Horton Corner

Humbly Sheweth
That your Excellency's Petitioners
are very poor and miserable, having no other means of supporting themselves and their respective fami-
lies than by the precarious subsistence they obtain by shooting and fishing, which, in consequence of the in-
crease of the White Settlers, they are nearly de-
prived of this benefit, and have no other resource
left than to pray that your Excellency will be
graciously pleased to allow them some portion of
the ungranted lands contiguous to the above
Settlement; and they are inducted to make this request for the express purpose of cultivating
the same, as the only means of saving them
from actual starvation.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will
ever pray
