Acres cleared by the Tennants [Tenants] of McWhinnie or of his
assigns and Grant the present proprietor has cut down
Six acres this winter and is Carrying on his improvements
with spirit. - Campbell's lott [lot] has been sold and for some
years in possession of a family of the name of Johnston
who have made large improvements on the front of it
and have been at considerable expence in perfecting
the improvements of the Indians and as they have no
chance of obtaining any [?redress] from the Heirs of Colonel
Campbell it would be a very great hardship to them to
have their lands and improvements taken from them after
they have gone so far on the faith of a public deed. The
recall of the Cogswell's Grant is not liable to the same objection
but when the case is stated to him he will probably be willing
to renounce a hundred Acres in favor of the Indians
which would be perfectly sufficient for them.

I believe that the greater part of the statement
I have made may be established upon the most unexceptionable
evidence as the individuals from whom I received
the information are among the most respectable settlers in
the place intematly [intimately] acquainted with all the facts of
the Case excepting the extent of the improvements made
by the Indians upon Campbell's and Cogwell's Grants
taken seperately [separately] and they are ready when called on
to make affidavit to their Statements - It is possible
that in some of the minute points I have misunderstood
and misrepresented them , but I am satisfied the
account is sufficiently correct to enable His Excellency
the Lieutenant Governor to select those particular points
on which he may wish to have more full and better
authenticated information and it is with this in view that
I have drawn it up and submitted it in this form to
the Board-
