Mi'kmaq Holdings Resource Guide

This is a typewritten compliation of correspondence, 1838-1841, regarding the purchase of Lennox Island, Prince Edward Island, for the sole use of the Mi'kmaq. It inslude a petition to the Queen from the Chief of the Mi'kmaq requesting a grant og land which would enable them to settle in one spot and, therefore, be in a position to regain their previous health and social fabric which has been disrupted by the French and English inhabitants. Several letters follow, as well as excerpts from the Journal of Assembly, which attempt to determine whether Lennox Island is for sale by its owner and what a fair price for the Island would be. Ultimately, the House of Assembly declines to purchase the Island for the Mi'kmaq.
