Halifax 11th. January 1803

The Letter of the Justices in the Court at Colchester, on the subject of Indians collected in that district, was yesterday laid before His Excellency The Governor, and the Commissioners appointed to administer relief the old, sick & infirm of those unfortunate brings - It is much to be regretted, that so many applicants should appear, that are not of the discription [description] contemplated by the assembly and still persist in idleness in the expectation of Public aid thro' the Winter.
The [deputation?] now here from Truro , [the old man excepted - underlined], are young, strong, likely men, that by their own confession have been mis-spending the Summer, in idle journey, to Quebec , when they ought to have been providing for the support of their Aged relations -
How many white men are now struggling in and about This Capital to support familys of five, six seven & Eight Children , upon three or four shillings a day- and in bad weather not
