after the account was rendered in Feby 1802
May 1st 1802 John Wilmot was comeing [coming] Down
the river with his family in his canoe he and
his wife being ill with the measles they run
foul of of a tree hanging over the river overset
their Canoe three of their children was Drowned and
Every thing they had lost _ I then suplied them
with Cash &c to the amt. of £ 1:5:0
They were the most distressed people I Ever beheld
and must have all Inevetably perished had it not
been for the [Exersions] of my son Stephen at the risk
of his own life ___
