A History of Mining Activity in Nova Scotia, 1720-1992

First engine house, Albion Mines

The building dates from ca.1838-39 and was built by the GMA. It was the site of the banquet held for the official opening day of the railroad on 19 September 1839. Note the high doors to accomodate the smokestacks of the engines.
