Smeorach nan cnoc's nan gleann : the songster of the hills and the glens :the collected works of Malcolm H. Gillis North Sydney : Rannie Gillis-, 2004. 232 pages : illustrations, music ; 21 cm.

Nova Scotia Archives Library - use request slip - PB1648 G481 2004

The two title pages (Gaelic and English are misleading as they have been reproduced from the 1939 The Songster of the Hills and the Glens which was compiled by Bernard Gillis, et al. The 1939 work was a compilation of songs and poems from Cape Breton Island by various authors. As explained in the forward to this 2004 work, compiled by Rannie Gillis, this new book contains only the poems and songs of Malcolm H. Gillis from the 1939 book, the others have been omittedition The Gillis family has added english translations of these originally gaelic-only works, as well as biographical and genealogical information about the Gillis family and Malcolm H. Gillis, and unpublished essays, songs and poems. There are many family photos and sheet music reproductions as well.
