w.ch they are pemitted to go & See for, Come here for the Approbation of the Governmnet with two of the Deputees [124] Deputees the one of which to be from above the River and the other from below; And after a farther Examination into the affairs to make Decision as it may be then Judged proper by the Situtation of Said Church for the Service of the Governm.t

The Honourable L.t Governor Acquainted the Board tbat finding by a Letter from Major Alexander Cosby that he Reflected upon his Conduct in Sending Gotie with the Priest Charlemaigne from hence Directly to Cape Breton with Orders not to Call at Canso and being Likewise .Inform'd that he was also Reflected upon at Boston by a Person from Canso for Giving Such Orders Judged therefore proper to have the Said Gotie Examined thereupon before the Board upon Oath whether he gave him any Such Orders as to pass that Port

To which the Board (knowing that no Such Orders were ever Given) Judged it Likewise Necessary that Gotie Should be Examin'd Upon oath and being call'd and Sworn Declared

That the Honnourable L.t Governour never gave him any Such Orders as not to Call at Canso [125] Canso And that he Never Said to any person or Persons Whatsoever that he had any Such Orders; but to the Contrary Declared that when he undertook at the Governours Request to Carry Pere Charlemaigne out of this Province to Cape Breton; that when the Governour proposed his Calling at Canso, he Refused to Call there it being so far out of his way
