The body of Premier Angus L. Macdonald lay in state in the Red Room of Province House,15-19 April 1954. Thousands filed by the casket to pay their last respects, and thousands lined city streets to view the funeral cortège. On Easter Monday, servicemen pulled the gun carriage up George Street, along Barrington and up Spring Garden Road to the Basilica. After the Requiem Mass at St. Mary's, the late premier was interred in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
