Amateur Theatre Cast of Pirates of Penzance, ca. 1885
Amateur theatricals were a favourite leisure activity for officers of the regiments stationed in Halifax, joined by members of the local gentry. This cast was photographed in the Lieutenant Governor's Garden on Barrington Street, across from Government House and adjoining St. Paul's Cemetery (now known as the Old Burying Ground).
