J. F. P. Clarke was one of the members of the Wallace Hartley band whose perambulating musical excursions were much appreciated in the First Class Lounge and Café Parisian during the Titanic's maiden voyage. The band travelled on a Second Class ticket but were not technically part of the crew. They are remembered for playing lively music to calm the passengers as the great liner slowly sank in the North Atlantic. Mr. Clarke is buried in Mount Olivet (Roman Catholic) Cemetery, Halifax, N.S.
