More than 500 British war brides en route to their future homes in Newfoundland arrived in Halifax on the liner SS Scythia on 26 March 1946. The group [left to right] included: Mrs. H. R. Stone, Labrador; Mrs. Guy Frazer, St. John's; Mrs. A. J. Brown, baby Lawrence and David, St. John's; Mrs. Jean Day and son Peter, Trinity Bay; and Mrs. Marion House and daughter Marion, Saint Barbe.
