Nova Scotia. Treasury and Policy Board (2013- )

In 2013 Treasury Board and the Policy and Priorities Committee ceased to exist as standalone committees, when Treasury and Policy Board was re-established as a unified committee of the Executive Council. The board is charged with establishing plans and policies for the operation of the Government and ensuring that those plans and policies are developed and implemented in a coordinated and fiscally responsible manner. Its responsibilities include development and implementation of policies, plans and strategies for the effective administration and operation of government; identification and prioritization of policy issues, selection of policy initiatives and direction of action on policy issues and initiatives; establishment of labour negotiation mandates; establishment of reporting requirements to ensure the full accountability of departments, offices and government agencies; ensuring decisions respecting any Provincial investment align with the Government's economic development strategies and priorities; ensuring alignment between Government's fiscal and policy agendas; and review and analysis of business plans of departments, offices and government agencies and approval of the allocation of financial and other resources to those departments, offices and government agencies. The board is assisted by the Office of Planning and Priorities, whose objects and purposes are to support Treasury and Policy Board and other committees of the Executive Council in advancing the Government's policy agenda.
