Been afraid of Debt, and therefore, am ex -
- tremely loath to involve myself, in my
Old age, and infirm state, when, per -
- haps, James may take it into his hand
To leave me all of a sudden.
His mind seems for roving, and I
Already find, that, I have to hear, and
Put up with many things, which are
Disagreeable to a parent’s ears.
Thanks be to God, that your own
Eyes have witnessed the unhappy situ -
- ation of my affairs; and that, you may
Well say, What can I do?
I am truly obliged to you for giving
Me the first refusal; and, I feel a great
Regard and affection for my Friends, a -
- mong whom I reckon you and your
Family to be the first.
          I. Corbitt
Sunday morning
4th June 1843
Mr. Alex. Easson
