The Eassons and the Hoyts

Two Hundred Years of Family and Community Life in Nova Scotia

Letter, I. Corbitt to Alexander Easson

Personal and confidential letter, regarding settlement of Alexander's "accounts against the children" [i.e. of David Easson?]. Saunders has been to see Cutler to get him to "overhaul" the accounts and since Judge Haliburton did not sign them as he should have, this has left the business open to further query -- unless Alexander has a letter of Quietas from Haliburton.  5 February 1842.  3 pages : 30 x 39 cm.   Easson family Nova Scotia Archives MG 1 vol. 3478 A/256

My Dear Friend
This is upon private Business for
your own good; therefore I expect you
will keep it close. – Saunders has
been to Mr. Cutler, to get him to
overhaul your accts against the
Children. – Mr. Cutler has been
to me privately, as your Friend. —
          He says, that Haliburton did
not sign the accts as he ought
to have done, and that leaves
the Business open, for a further in -
- query, unless Haliburton gave
you some kind of a writing, to
Certify, that all was settled.
I know, that Fairn had such a
writing, called a Quietas, after
          settling
