Mr Rodor’s Draught as he is dismissed the Government’s
service, and Mr Hopkins likewise. I was obliged to get
five pounds from Mr Forman, giving him my receipt
of promise to repay the same on your objecting
to it. With Regard to the House it is still in the same
situation as when you left this and I have not yet
got the small Balance of last years Rent. My
Cousin was to send me a Disposition of the House
Assigning Any Right he & my Aunt Mary had
to the House over to me, which was also to be
signed by my Aunt and Uncle here but not yet
come. I see by the News papers that Woodend is to
be sold at a Roupe at Jones’ Coffee House [...]
but I imagine it will not be sold, we have had sad
doings here since you left this place. Upwards of 40 Capi-
-tal Houses Stopped payment all within 3 Weeks the
first of whom was Alexr Fordyce owing to Gambling
in Stocks. He paid before he went off £150,000 [..]
of Stock, dead Loss & is Double that sum in Debt.           Mr
