The date that Amherst Mission (Anglican) became a parish is not known; the parish church, Christ Church, was completed in 1822.

Fonds consists of baptismal registers, 1822-1965; marriage registers, 1823-1945; burial registers, 1823-1947; confirmation registers, 1912-1957; service registers, 1911-1966; and minutes of parish and vestry meetings, 1823-1962. Besides Amherst, includes early registrations for inhabitants of Athol, Baie Verte, Fort Cumberland, Fort Lawrence, Joggins, Little River, Maccan, Minudie, Nappan, Oxford, Point de Bute, Port Elgin, Pugwash, River Hebert, River Philip, Springhill, Thomson, Tidnish, Wallace, Westchester, and Westmorland. Fonds also includes a journal kept by George Townshend, Rector, dating from 1835-1880, and minutes of parish societies, 1911-1957.
