Lord Aberdeen

John Hamilton-Gordon, Earl of Aberdeen, was Governor-General of Canada, 1893-1898. The Charitable Irish Society, North British Society and St. George's Society hosted a banquet in Lord and Countess Aberdeen's honour at the Halifax Hotel on 7 August 1894. Premier Fielding, Chairman of the Banquet Committee; Mayor Keefe, President of the Charitable Irish Society; and Dr. A.H. McKay, President of the North British Society, received the party in the Halifax Hotel's rotunda. Governor-General Aberdeen was attired in full Highland dress and wore the Order of the Baronetcy of Nova Scotia.
