African Nova Scotians in the Age of Slavery and Abolition

Edwin Howard Borden (1869-1953)

Borden was the first African Nova Scotian graduate of Acadia University. He was born at Truro, where his parents had moved from Tracadie. He received his BA in 1892, MA also from Acadia 1896, BD from University of Chicago 1897, honourary DD from Baptist College, Texas 1910 and PhD from Milton University, Baltimore, Md. 1924. He had a distinguished career as a pastor, professor, and author in the United States.
