Spoils of War: Privateering in Nova Scotia

Captured prisoners exchanged by Liverpool Packet

As late as August 1812 Halifax authorities continued to hope that diplomacy would end the conflict with America. The Liverpool Packet, later Nova Scotia’s most famous privateer, was initially restricted to carrying exchanged prisoners to Boston.
