Halifax Dec: 1st. 1852.
Sir, I have the honor to inform you
for the information of His Excellency
the Lieutenant Governor, that there
are now in the neighbourhood of Halifax
and Dartmouth and also in other
places a number of Indian families
in a state of utter destitution and distress.
There have been two deaths at Dartmouth
within the past week and I am now
supplying medicine and medical
attendance to others labouring under
consumption and other diseases. I
have adavnced [advanced] to these poor Indians
beyond the amount put in my hands
by the Government, and unless their
immediate wants are relieved,
still farther suffering must follow.
Under these circumstances I beg
leave to apply to His Excellency
for
