In acknowledging the receipt of
your communication of the 23rd [illegible] which
I regret was not done Earlier, Will you
allow me to offer my thanks for the kind
manner in which you have conveyed
the Sentiments of His Excellency Sir John
Harvey relative to the case of the poor
Indians during their late [afflicting?]
sickness

It must be gratifying to find that
the progress of the disease so fearful
in its effects has been so [?hastely] checked
by the unceasing care, and skillful
aid of Dr [illegible] Jennings assisted by
