African Nova Scotians in the Age of Slavery and Abolition

This ad for the lease of a young female slave gives a somewhat revealing description of her personality. Some slave ads are vague, while others cover only physical characteristics. This one mentions that the slave was "fond" of children, well tempered, and able to serve in either the country or city.
