"Saul Bauld, water carrier"

Bauld earned his living as a water carrier at Dartmouth. He was Nova Scotian-born; his name was sometimes listed as Solomon Ball. According to J.P. Martin (The Story of Dartmouth, 1957), Bauld later had a shoeshine stand in front of the Dartmouth post office and died in 1906.
