Cornelius White, the son of Gideon and Deborah White, was born in Shelburne in 1797 and also died in town in 1871. In 1824, he married Agnes Crowell. Cornelius was a merchant, Sheriff of Shelburne, 1837-1849, Registrar of Probate, and Member of the Legislative Assembly representing Shelburne County, 1855-1859.
