Sir
As we understand there was something noted by the]House of Assembly, in their last session, for the Relief of the distressed Indians in this Province, and that you are one of the Committe [Committee] appointed to enquire into the state of said Indians _
We beg leave to inform you that there are a number of them in the vicinity of this Town (suppose Twenty Families at least) some of whom are in a very distressed Situation, and have apply'd to us for relief and that we find the number of these Objects is likely to increase considerably, being by their fear of this Small-pox, disease from both Halifax and Liverpool- And therefore think it our duty to request you will have the goodness, as early as possible to represent the case of said Indians and to endeavour to obtain for them some Relief.
