''Wedgwood Dessert Service''

Notes from Piers Accession Book: Photographs of a handsome Wedgwood Dessert Service of 32 pieces, of white ware ornamented with brownish-red and black, which is said (no doubt correctly) to have belonged to H.R.H. the Duke of Kent while he was at Halifax, Nova Scotia, 1794-1800. 

Photographed at "Fort Massey," the home of the late Miss Mary K. Odell, the last of her family, 34 Tobin Street (near Queen Street), Halifax, Nova Scotia; on evening of Thursday, 11th August, 1938. The service was sold at auction, 22 August 1938, for $80.00. It is quite possible it came originally into the possession of Chief Justice S.S. Blowers (1743-1842), Chief Justice of Nova Scotia 1797-1833, whose adopted daughter married Judge William Blowers Bliss (1795-1874), who no doubt built the Tobin Street house.
