Notes from Piers Accession Book:
Scientific Name: / Common Name: Apothecary's Balance, with brass standard, etc., and steel beam; mounted on mahoghany base with drawer containing miscellaneous weights; of about 1850. It belonged to Dr. Alexander C. Page, a well-known physician of Truro, Col. Co., N.S., from about 1851 till his death about 1879. Dr. A. C. Page? was an M.D. of Harvard University where he graduated in 1851. His name last appears in Medical Register of N.S., in Belchers Almanac from 1879 (prepared in Oct. 1878)

Locality and When Collected: Halifax, N.S.; originally from Truro, Col. Co., N.S. No maker's name on it, but evidently British make. Standard, 10.50 " high, beam 7.00 " long; one pan, 2.75" diam. Base, 9.75" x 4.80" x 2.75".
Collector (c) / Donor (d): From Mrs. Walker 88 Spring Garden Rd., Halifax, N.S. per Prof. H. L. Brown of Dal. College. Mrs. W. had given it to Dal. College which transferred it to this Museum.
