Knight, Knight Commander of the
orders of Saint Ferdinand and of
Charles the third of Spain, Lieutenant
Governor and Commander in Cheif
in and over Her Majesty's Province
of Nova Scotia and its dependencies.
&c. &c. &c.

The humble memorial [and]
petition of Peter Babial, Peter Toney,
and Joseph Paul; Indians in behalf of
themselves and the other Indians of Parrsboro
Constituting Seven families, and number
up in all men women and children twenty
eight. Humbly Sheweth to your Excellency
that they are now encamped in Parrsboro for
the winter and are in a destitute situation
being much in want of blankets and other
articles of clothing and likewise of Provisions.
That their prospects of providing necessaries
for the winter by their own exertion are very
compromising, the men being mostly far
advanced in years and unable to hunt. [And]
the place not affording a market for the
productions of their skill in coopering and
basket making and your memorialists are
seriously afraid that if they are not
[relieved] by Provincial aid they will perish
from cold and hunger. And your memorialists
further show to your Excellency that
they do not know of any [Commissioner] for
Indian Affairs for this part of the Province
to whom they can apply.
