Reminiscences of working conditions in Cape Breton mines as recorded by Robert Drummond, an agent of the Provincial Workmen's Association. Drummond has been called "one of the most significant figures of 19th-century Canadian labour history." A coalminer, trade union leader, journalist and politician, he was born in Scotland, 1840, emigrated to Nova Scotia ca.1865; died in Stellarton, 1925; and was buried in Springhill.
